This policy covers the standalone version of the Mary app. It does not require an account, does not connect to Mary's servers, and does not share your personal data with us. A separate policy will apply when the connected caregiver portal is released.

Mary Care Group Ltd is a private limited company registered in England and Wales (company number 17212142). Registered office: 7 Spinney Close, Clitheroe, Lancashire, BB7 9WH. We operate the Mary Android app and the marycare.co.uk website.

What data the app uses

The standalone Mary app does not create accounts, does not connect to Mary's servers, and does not send personal data to us. All data stays on the device.

The app requests the following device permissions:

Contacts (read and write): Mary reads your device's address book to display contact names and photos on the home screen. It may write back a linked contact record. This data never leaves the device.
Location (fine and coarse): When a user presses the HELP button and SMS escalation is enabled, Mary may include the device's current location as a link in the SOS text message sent to caregivers. This location is sent directly via SMS from the device — it is not transmitted to Mary's servers.
Phone (make and answer calls): Mary can make calls to trusted contacts and, if configured by a caregiver, automatically answer incoming calls. Call content is not recorded or transmitted.
SMS: Mary can send SOS alert messages to caregiver numbers configured on the device. Messages are sent directly from the device via your mobile carrier.
Internet and network state: Used by the weather widget on the home screen to fetch publicly available weather data for the device's current location. No personal data is included in this request.

Data we do not collect

In the standalone version, Mary Care Group Ltd does not collect, store, or process any personal data from your device. We have no access to your contacts, location, call history, or messages.

Third-party services

The weather widget fetches data from a public weather service using your approximate location. No identifying information is sent alongside this request. Please refer to the weather provider's privacy policy for full details.

Mary does not use advertising SDKs, analytics services, or crash reporting tools that transmit personal data in this version.

Children's privacy

Mary is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Your rights

Because the standalone version does not send personal data to us, most data rights (access, correction, deletion) apply at the device level and can be managed through your Android device settings. To remove Mary's access to contacts or location, adjust the relevant permissions in your device's app settings.
